Nominating Convention - 1:30 PM, April 21 - International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers hall at 2637 W. Albany Street in Kennewick
The Democrats of Washington’s 8th legislative District are happy to announce the 2012 Nominating Convention for state legislative offices will be held April 21, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers hall at 2637 W. Albany Street in Kennewick.
We will be accepting nominations for Representative, Position 1 (currently held by the republican Brad Klippert) and Representative, Position 2 (currently held by the republican Larry Haler).IBEW Local 112 2637 W. Albany St.

B. Nomination Process
1. County Partisan Office Nominees. The nominees for county partisan office shall be chosen at a county nominating convention or optionally at county council district nominating conventions, consisting of elected and appointed precinct committee officers representing precincts in that county or council district. Such nominating conventions shall be called by the Chair of the County Democratic Party not later than 45 days and held not less than 14 days prior to the date filing for office commences. The results from each nominating convention shall be reported to the Chair of the Washington State Democratic Party within 24 hours after the convention has adjourned.
2. Legislative Nominees. The nominees for Washington State Senate and Washington State House of Representatives shall be chosen at a legislative district nominatingconvention consisting of elected and appointed precinct committee officers representing precincts in that legislative district. Such nominating conventions shall be called by the Chair of the Legislative District Democratic Party not later than 45 days and held not less than 14 days prior to the date filing for office commences. The results from each nominating convention shall be reported to the Chair of the Washington State Democratic Party within 24 hours after the convention has adjourned.
In 2012 the date filing for office commences (starts) is May 14th.
Nominating conventions shall be called by the Chair of the local party organization no later than Friday, March 30, 2012 and held no later than Monday, April 30, 2012.

Weighted Voting
The number of votes at each nominating convention other than the state convention shall be equal to the sum of the number of precinct level delegates that were allocated to the precincts that are represented at the convention during the most recent National Delegate Selection process. Each elected or appointed PCO voting at the caucus or convention shall be apportioned the number of votes equal to the number of precinct level delegates his or her precinct was allotted during the most recent National Delegate Selection process. In the case of newly formulated precincts the calculation would be based on the allocation formula used in the most recent delegate selection plan.
The weighted vote for each PCO shall be the same as the number of delegates allotted for the 2012 Delegate Selection process. If you need a list of the delegate allocations for each of the precincts in your jurisdiction please contact Greg Haffner at greg@wa-democrats.org and he will send you the list.
Please also remember that - The results from each nominating convention shall be reported to the Chair of the Washington State Democratic Party within 24 hours after the convention has adjourned.
8th LD Caucus April 28th
The floowup to the Benton County Democrats caucus being held on April 15 is the 8th Legislative Distruct Caucus which will be held on April 28th at 10 AM at Hanford High School.. After the 8th LD caucus the Benton County Democratic Convention will be convened at 1 PM.
